The NetApp® Excellerator program is a startup accelerator program designed to help startups create world class products and innovative solutions that are market ready.
At NetApp, we recognize that innovation is never standalone. This program will enable startups to leverage NetApp’s expertise as well as its ecosystem of partners, SMEs, and customers to realize the maximum potential of their innovative ideas.

What is the NetApp Excellerator program?
NetApp Excellerator is NetApp’s first startup accelerator program, which has been initiated in India. The NetApp Excellerator is a platform that provides startups with an opportunity to learn from the data management expertise for which NetApp is known and thereby enhance the value proposition of their business idea.
How do startups benefit from it?
The NetApp Excellerator program brings a unique opportunity for startups to learn from a global major. This program is a platform to partner with an industry leader and learn from its experience in staying ahead of the innovation curve, scaling a business quickly as well as to its full potential.
The learning cohort is set up as a four-month program in which startups are mentored by NetApp technology and business experts, entrepreneurs, investors, and other industry leaders. Startups get to understand the voice of customers and learn how to apply relevant frameworks to benefit their business.Startups also get access to coworking space, tools and platforms, investors, financial grants, technology support, and business advisory services.
Who can apply to NetApp Excellerator?
Startups from a diverse set of technology areas such as cloud, IoT, big data and analytics, machine learning, virtualization, data security, data management, storage, and other adjacent areas can apply. Any startup that is looking for an opportunity to work with the best in the data management technology industry can apply for the program.
What is the selection process?
Startups can apply by submitting the online application form available here (application now closed). The applicants are evaluated based on the strength of their business idea, product, team, and traction. Each cohort will have five or six such startups. The stage gate process will be conducted by experts and mentors at NetApp to identify the cohort.
When is the deadline for applying to NetApp Excellerator?
The application form will be available from June 7, 2017 to July 3, 2017 for applying to the program.
Do the startups have to be based in Bangalore to be eligible?
No, any startup can apply to NetApp Excellerator. However, they should be willing to work from the coworking space located within the NetApp campus at Whitefield in Bangalore for a significant part of the cohort tenure. We would like at least the cofounder and some of the team members to be present at the premises to make sure of fruitful interactions with the mentor and the rest of the cohort.
Will NetApp take equity in startups?
No, NetApp will not take any equity in startups.
How is a startup’s Intellectual Property (IP) protected?
Startups have sole ownership of their existing IP as well as any IP that the startup develops during the program.
What kind of mentoring do the startups receive at NetApp Excellerator?
NetApp Excellerator will provide startups access to technology and business mentors. Each startup will have assigned technology and business mentors, who will help them during their journey in the program through their expertise as well as connect within the organization and with the ecosystem. Startups will have access to various NetApp learning modules, specific training, and industry insights.
What time commitment is required from the startup?
Startups—founders and other team members—should be willing to work from the coworking space for a significant period of the program. Time commitments can be discussed with the startups. Teams should attend the fortnightly review sessions, technology and business mentoring sessions, expert interactions, and so on, which will be planned to help them scale.
